Primary Subject Knowledge Enhancement Programme – Oldham

This is a two day training programme designed to improve pedagogical knowledge in the teaching of primary maths.  The key focus will be on developing current best practice and deep pedagogical knowledge relating to calculation. 

 

Day 1Addition, subtraction and multiplication

Day 1 will focus on developing a deep understanding of the structures and rules of the mathematics and will explore representations to help your pupils to gain a good understanding of this area of calculation. 

 

Day 2 – Division and fractions (including decimals and percentages)

Through this strand of calculation we will exemplify the structures and representations that are applicable and explore at pedagogical knowledge. Connections with shape and measures will be made throughout this session to deepen and strengthen best practice.

Who should attend

This course is suitable for all primary phase teachers. It will be of particular benefit if you are a new subject leader, new to a year group or recently qualified.

Day 1:  29 January 2020

Day 2:  25 March 2020

 

Time:  9.15am for a 9.30am start and ends at 3.00pm
