Audience: Primary EAL Leads
Date: Monday 7th February 2022, Wednesday 30th March 2022, Tuesday 17th May 2022 and Monday 4th July 2022.
Time: 9.30am - 12.30pm
Venue: Altrincham Grammar School for Girls
Cost: £225 per person for all four sessions.

Workshop 1  – Assessing and Supporting EAL pupils progress

  • Exploring approaches to best practice in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment to support EAL pupils.  
  • Removing barriers to accessing the curriculum.

Workshop 2 –  Auditing the school environment

  • Implementing the use of Environmental walks and Learning walks to evaluate strengths and areas for improvement in establishing an EAL-friendly school environment.  

Date & Time: Wednesday 30th March – 9:30-12:30pm  

Venue: Altrincham Grammar School for Girls 

Workshop 3 – Creating a culturally inclusive curriculum

  • Considering ways in which pupils can grow in their awareness and appreciation of race, ethnicities and cultures in the wider world by exploring teaching and learning links to the curriculum.

Workshop 4 – The role of ‘cultural context’ in the classroom

  • Examining expectations of pupil performance based on culture and ethnicity. Considering ‘Character Before Background’ (CBB )
